Title I Info
Liberty Elementary is a Title I school. Title I is part of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), through the U.S. Department of Education. It dates back to 1965, and its main purpose has been to help children from low-income households meet the challenging, state academic standards.
There are thousands of Title I schools nationwide. The funding is designed to provide students with extra instructional support beyond the regular classroom to help low-achieving children meet state standards in core academic subjects. They coordinate and integrate resources and services from federal, state, and local sources. To be considered for Title I school funds, at least 40% of the students must be considered low-income. The financial assistance is provided through state educational agencies (SEAs) to local educational agencies (LEAs) and public schools.
The Liberty Elementary School-Parent Compact is an agreement between parents, students and the school (teachers and staff). The purpose of the School-Parent Compact is to foster student achievement. By signing the School-Parent Compact, LES teachers, staff, parents, and students agree to work together to share the responsibility of helping students meet or exceed state, district and school academic goals.
