Clubs and Extracurricular
Liberty Elementary School offers a variety of clubs and extracurricular activities that allow students to explore their interests, develop leadership and teamwork skills, and express their creativity. These opportunities provide students with hands-on experiences that build confidence, responsibility, and a sense of community. Whether students enjoy performing, creating, leading, or learning new skills, Liberty Elementary has something for everyone to get involved in and grow as a Liberty Lion.
Club and Extracurricular Opportunities
-
WLES: Liberty Live: Fourth-grade students produce the daily morning announcement program, learning skills in broadcasting, teamwork, graphic design, and communication.
-
Junior Librarians: Fourth graders help manage the library by maintaining assigned shelves and assisting with library tasks under the guidance of Mrs. Watts.
-
Chess Club: The library hosts Chess Club three mornings a week. Anyone can come play chess on Wednesday and Thursday mornings. On Wednesdays, we often have a quick lesson or group game to learn techniques. Fridays are limited to more experienced players.
-
Book Club: Small, rotating groups meet on Tuesdays in the library to discuss selected books; openings are announced on WLES for students to sign up.
-
LES Art Club: Third- and fourth-grade students meet weekly before school to share ideas and create art for school events and the community.
-
Pride Peers: Teacher-nominated students are selected who demonstrate the willingness to help others, take pride in their work, and exhibit independence and the ability to take responsibility. With the guidance and support of teacher advisors, Pride Peers develop and implement service-based projects within the school community and take an active role in promoting a positive culture and learning environment at Liberty Elementary.
-
Recorder Club: Fourth graders practice musicianship by learning to read music and perform together, earning “karate belt” rewards for their progress. This extracurricular club is a motivating way for students to practice note name identification, rhythms, and fingerings on the recorder.
-
Veterans Day Cub Choir: Fourth grade students have the opportunity to learn patriotic repertoire and be a part of a featured performance in the annual year’s Veterans Day Assembly in November. During their extracurricular rehearsals, students learn singing exercises and techniques as well as how to cooperate as a team
